Paving set Friday for Alderton Street

Residents and commuters in Rego Park take note.

The city Department of Transportation is slated to resurface Alderton Street between 63rd Drive and Woodhaven Boulevard on Friday, July 12. The road has been milled for the last several days.

“The work is based on a rating indicating that paving was needed because of the roadway condition,” a DOT spokesperson said.

At least one business in the area is not a fan of the announcement.

“I don’t think it was necessary to do because they were perfectly fine,” said Mike Pinkhasov, co-owner of Theraputic Cuts, located at 65-53 Alderton St. in Rego Park. “I think the city just has a lot of money and when they have a lot of money, they’ve got nothing to do with their budget, they just make them redo the roads where it shouldn’t be done. They should’ve gone somewhere else.”
