Two violent west Queens deaths

A 22-year-old Corona man was stabbed to death shortly after midnight last Sunday, police said.

Officers found Roque Alvarez Montes unconscious by 37th Avenue and 97th Street around 12:40 a.m. with stab wounds to the chin, back and left arm.

Paramedics rushed him to NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst, where he was pronounced dead.

Alvarez Montes lived nearby on 97th Street. No arrests have been made yet and the investigation is ongoing.

Separately, around 4 a.m. last Sunday, the police headed to 83rd Street and 31st Avenue in East Elmhurst to respond to a call of a motor vehicle collision. They found a 25-year-old man lying in the road with trauma to his head and body.

EMS pronounced him dead at the scene. The NYPD identification of the man is pending family notification.

Police determined that the deceased man was speeding on his 2007 Honda CBR 600 motorcycle westbound on 31st Avenue when he hit a 2018 Grand Cherokee heading north on 83rd. The car’s driver stayed at the scene, police said.
